In 2004, I was commissioned by Bishop John Gimenez, Pastor of Rock Church International, as the New England Coordinator of the "America for Jesus" Rally to be held in Washington, D.C. on October 22, 2004. Before that Road Trip even began, I wrote this song, "Wake Up, America!", and performed it a capella at the churches I visited, as prelude to my "America for Jesus" Rally presentation. The words of this song remain just as meaningful and urgent for us now in 2020.
On May 1, 2006, I was home from work due to an injury, when I discovered on the television news, that the day had been targeted by Illegal Aliens for protests nationwide as "Nothing Gringo Day" to boycott American products and doing any work to show us just how important they are to our economy. I was riveted to my television and followed the developing, and increasingly violent, protests across the country all day long. I wrote "Gringo de Mayo" as a patriot response.
As a lifelong advocate for Civil Rights and ardent follower of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (as well as the only White Boy in an otherwise All Black Soul Rock Band in NYC during the 70's: "The Forgotten People"); I was completely offended when BLM began the false race-baiting narrative that all Whites are inherently Racist due to our White Priviledge. As Popeye, the Sailor, liked to say, "Enough is enough, and enough is too much!" This song is my open response.

This is an homage to both Sir Walter Scott for the writng, and my sixth grade teacher, Miss Dorothy Filliebrown, for sharing. She required every one of her students to memorize and recite this poem, spanning the early education of my mother, Dorothy, my sister, Patricia, and myself. We were always delighted to recite this poem in unison when'ere we got together, whether casually or during holidays celebrations. This Patriot Ode is hidden in my heart with God's Word.
